Blogmas Day 24- Merry Christmas Everyone!

It's Christmas Eve already! I can't believe how fast time has gone.

I would like to dedicate this blog post to those who have been reading my blogmas posts. Like I said in yesterdays post, it has been hard work, but it has been fun.

My blog has been very lax in the past, posting as and when I have things to post about. In the new year I would love to write more posts, however I like to keep my blog authentic and only publish content I really love!

Without further ado I am now announcing an end to Blogmas! I hope you all have a lovely Christmas and a Happy New Year. Please catch up on my blogmas posts below if you are interested

Blogmas Day 23- My Blogmas Experience

At the end of November, I decided to participate in Blogmas, this is where I commit to writing a blog post every single day up until Christmas Eve! Writing a blog post every day sure has been a challenge, but one that I am so proud to say that I have stuck to!

With only one day of Blogmas left to go, it sure has made December fly by! I didn't really pre-write many blog posts before December started, but at the same time I'm glad I didn't as it has made my posts more authentic. Blogmas has been difficult, but it has definitely become more of a challenge since I've been back at my part-time job in retail this week, where I have been working till 9pm every day.

Nevertheless I am so happy with the quality of content I have produced and my readership on my blog. The stats show me a lot of people have been reading my posts, and next year I will definitely be participating in blogmas again, just maybe with a bit more preparation.

I hope you've been enjoying my posts! I am excited to see what the new year brings for my blog. Make sure you come back here tomorrow to read my FINAL Blogmas 2017 post!

I absolutely love a good highlighter, and couldn't resist sharing with you all my favourite highlighting palette of the minute- the Anastasia Beverly Hills Sun Dipped Palette. I bought this in America as I had always wanted to own one of these highlighting kits. Having now tried it, I have nothing but good things to say. This really is an all-rounder highlighting palette and would suit a variety of skin tones- you need one in your collection. The glow is real!

Blogmas Day 21- Enter 2018 with a Sparkle!

I, for one am not a massive fan of New Years. It feels like there is such a pressure to do feel like you have to go out and be doing something, and all events are ridiculously busy and expensive.

Nevertheless, it is a chance to wear one of the jazziest outfits of the year, and if you are stuck for a New Years Eve dress, then I have a few which may take your fancy.  You absolutely cannot go wrong with sequins. So I have picked some sequin dresses that will make you the talk of the evening, and for a good reason!

If I was to buy one of these dresses I think I would pick the first one! Which is your favourite?

Blogmas Day 20- Current Beauty Favourites

When I like a beauty product, I pretty much stick to using it and nothing else. I have lots of makeup, but find it hard to introduce new products into my routine. However, through the month of November and some of December, I have been loving a few different products which are by no means new to the world of makeup, but new to me!

This mascara was kindly sent to me by Influenster for reviewing purposes. Ever since I have gotten it, I have been using it every single day! I love the volume and thickness it gives my lashes and if I use any other mascara now I feel bare!

To me, the thought of a liquid eyeshadow sounded like hell, but I was totally wrong! I love this and can see why the hype is so huge over these eyeshadows. I have 4 different shades of these, but this is my favourite to use when I go out. It stays on the whole night too!

I was a bit apprehensive when I first bought this, but changing the brush I used to apply this has really made this highlighter glow on my skin. I love it and have been reaching for it every day!

If you have read my American Makeup Haul post then you will see I purchased this when I was in New York! I have been using it most days since I bought it and have really grown to love it!

Again, another New York purchase! I am usually completely in love with Benefit's Hoola but this has knocked it from the top right now!

Ever since running out of my Laura Mercier setting powder, which I am reluctant to repurchase, I have been using this to set the concealer I use under my eyes and on my eyelids. It is really lightening and brightening, which I love it for.

What are your current favourites?

Blogmas Day 19- Bloggers Secret Santa

I am lucky enough to have a lovely group of friends all from the area in which I live in, who share a hobby the same as mine- blogging!

We met up and went out to a local Indian Restaurant on Sunday night to do our 'Secret Santa swap' which we had been planning for a while.

It turns out that Courtney had me! I am so lucky to have received the presents that I got because she did sooo well, especially considering we only had a £20 maximum spend limit, and she says she stuck to her limit as well! I don't know how she managed it. Either way I am very happy with what I received and feel so lucky!

Thank you so much to the lovely Courtney for the amazing gifts! I will link her and all my other lovely blogging friends below so you can check them out!

Blogmas Day 18- LAST MINUTE GIFT IDEAS

December 18th means one thing- a week until Christmas! If any of you out there are in a last minute panic frenzy about what to buy for a present, I have made a post compiled of last minute gift ideas. First of all, it isn't Christmas eve yet, so you could be doing a lot worse!

*TOP TIP* - Avoid relying too much on online shopping. If you do decide to opt for online, make sure you check their last delivery date to guarantee arrival for Christmas. Best to avoid disappointment.

1. Gift Card

In my opinion, a gift card is always a last minute safe option. You can get gift cards for all different types of places these days. If you don't know what they're into maybe it would be a nice idea to get them a voucher that covers a variety of different restaurants. Loads of people love going out to eat, and this kind of gift card gives them the option. Another gift card of choice would be ASOS because I love ASOS as you can buy so much from there! ASOS lets you email your gift card to someone as well, making it an instant gift!

Blogmas Day 17- Christmas in London

London is a wonderful place at all times of the year, but at Christmas... it is truly beautiful. There are many different places you can visit at Christmas in London to get you in the festive spirit. Here are some of my personal favourite places to go!

Department stores:

There's no doubt that London department stores are the best place to be in December. They have massive Christmas sections where you can spend hours glancing at the gorgeous decorations they have on offer. It is undoubtedly going to put you in the Christmas spirit. My favourites are Selfridges, Harrods and Liberty of London.

Blogmas Day 16- Driving Home for Christmas...

Driving home for Christmas- this is literally how I have spent my Saturday! The first term of my second year at university is over, *breathes a sigh of relief*! If I thought this year has been difficult so far, I am dreading what third year is going to be like.

Blogmas Day 15- Oh So Perfectly Pink...

Peggy Porschen Cakes, if you haven't heard of it, chances are you will have definitely seen it all over your Instagram feed.

My trip was nothing short of fabulous. Peggy's is just how you would expect it to be- perfectly pink! How can anyone not be thrilled over the idea of cake in the most gorgeous pink cafe!? It's honestly the dream.

The doorway. That perfectly instagram-able doorway! The funny thing is, is that it is exactly how you'd imagine it to be. You struggle to take photos of the doorway amongst the girls standing posing for outfit shots by the door. I've never been to a place quite like it. But of course, I had to be one of those girls...

We sat down inside, as it was a fairly chilly day, but the interior is just as gorgeous as the exterior. White shelves inside are filled to the brim with baking books, and lots of beautiful edible decorations. It really is picture perfect.

I chose a Gingerbread man cupcake, which was so sweet and delicious and was washed down with a hot chocolate.

I already want to go back, or find more pretty pink places, but I think this place will be hard to beat!

Blogmas Day 14- Gift Guide for Men

Let's be honest, buying gifts for men is single-handedly one of the hardest things to do. Men never seem to have a want for many things, or they already own everything, so it is so hard to know what to buy. I'm still probably miles off the mark, but here are a few ideas for gifts that I think the men in your life may enjoy...

Amazon Echo- £69.99 (currently on offer!)

Boys and their toys! Men love having new gadgets to play around with. The Amazon Echo has been all the rage this year, and they're not overly expensive, even better when they're on offer like they are at the moment!

Blogmas Day 13- Bah Humbug!

In spite of the fact that most of my posts are happy and uplifting (as they should be), I thought it would be somewhat humorous to write a light-hearted post detailing the things I don't like about Christmas!

I do love the festive period, I mean who doesn't! But like said, I thought it would give my blog a funny twist if I shared with you the things that I really don't like during Christmas time, so please don't take my cynicism too seriously!

  1. RETAIL SHOPS BEING OPEN ALL THE TIME! - The fact that this will be 5th Christmas working my part time job in retail may have something to do with this. But seriously, what is the need with shops having to be open late hours and all the time. Christmas day is the only break, and honestly in the next decade or so I wouldn't even be surprised if shops were open on Christmas day. I'm sure my hate for the extensive opening hours is shared by retail workers worldwide! I just feel like there is absolutely zero need for people to need to be shopping 24/7!
  2. BEAUTY ADVENT CALENDARS- This is going to be a widely unpopular opinion I am sure, but I really just don't think beauty advent calendars are worth the investment. I have been partial to buying one in the past, and have felt completely underwhelmed by what was inside, and I know others who feel the same. They say that the contents are worth double the price you're paying for it or whatever, but what's the use if you end up with products you don't want?! Fair play to those people who make use of the majority of products, but I just don't find I would. If I buy one in the future I will be eating my words, but I really don't think I will be purchasing one any time soon. They look pretty, and they're a clever marketing technique, I just don't think they're worth your pennies.
  3. PRESSURE TO FEEL FESTIVE- Am I the only one who gets this?! It's December 13th already, we're basically halfway there, and I feel like I should be out ice skating and spending my day watching Christmas films. But this just either hasn't happened, or life has gotten in the way, and I feel like time is flying by too fast!
  4. DEADLINES- Leading on from my last point, I haven't had the chance to feel festive, and won't get the opportunity to have much of a break due to the January deadlines I have looming over me all Christmas. But hey, I'm sure there are many students that can relate!
  5. IT NEVER SNOWS ON CHRISTMAS- I am not a fan of snow, but I would be if it snowed on Christmas day... and it never does! At least not where I live anyway. How magical would that be?!
  6. NOT A CHILD ANYMORE- Christmas loses that magical sparkle when you realise your dad is eating the mince pies lol. But seriously, where did the days go where I sat for hours circling all the toys I wanted in the Argos catalogue and writing letters to Santa? Christmas will never be the same!
  7. MINCE PIES- Who even likes mince pies? It is a Christmas food I will never understand, and fail to comprehend why anyone would enjoy it as a nice festive snack. I know everyone has different tastes but I find the whole idea around them just really bizarre.
  8. GAINING WEIGHT- It's an inevitably accepted part of the Christmas period but WHY does it have to happen. Enough said.
  9. NEW YEARS- This is around the time of year when people start to make plans for New Years Eve... which I hate. Halloween and New Years Eve have got to be the worst things invented cos it feels like there's some sort of pressure to be doing something on them. Also, with a new year, comes resolutions, what the hell are they all about?
  10. EVERYWHERE IS PACKED- Just give up with the idea of going shopping anywhere, especially on a weekend during December. Why does everyone leave things so last minute and there becomes such a manic rush... it's so annoying lol.

Does anyone agree with me?

Blogmas Day 12- Walking in a Winter Wonderland...

Since 2015, Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park in London has been something that I have looked forward to visiting with my boyfriend Charlie as soon as each December rolls around. On Saturday the 9th December we went for the third year in a row, it has quickly become a Christmas tradition of ours.

Undoubtedly, compared to the first time we visited the attraction, the hype and popularity surrounding it has grown on an immense level. In hindsight going on a Saturday, early to middle of December was probably not the best idea, but it is what we chose to do. I have never seen the place so busy! I am not good with estimating numbers but there must have been hundreds of thousands of people inside Winter Wonderland, it was honestly rammed to the point where it wasn't particularly enjoyable to walk around.

Pre-booking the attractions a week before the 9th was a myth, but luckily we managed to book two attractions, The Magical Ice Kingdom and The Giant Wheel, and this meant we got to skip two insanely large queues at the entrances- result!

Despite how busy it was, I really made a conscious effort to try and put it to the back of my mind as much as I could. Winter Wonderland was packed, and it is overpriced, but it is somewhere I love going with Charlie and wouldn't stop going to because of these two factors. Next year if we went, we would probably pick a quieter day like a Monday. We have been there on a weekday in previous years and it has been much more bearable in terms of crowds.

However like I said, a few crowds was not enough to ruin the day, and I really would urge people to visit there as it is free entry and despite the expensive attractions, you could wander around and not spend too much money. It is a place I love and whoever thought of it is definitely reaping the benefits as so many people want to go there!

Here are some pictures from the day!
